Anna Mae Huyard Esh, 94, of Intercourse, went home to be with her Lord June 20, 2026, in the presence of her family.
She was the wife of Elias S. Esh, who predeceased her in 2016. Born in 1932, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Ada (Peachey) Huyard.
Anna grew up in New Holland and lived in Intercourse for her adult life. She worked for Stoltzfus Meats in multiple capacities: in the butcher shop, in the Stoltzfus Farm Restaurant and later at the Stoltzfus Meats Deli, and until 2025, as a well-loved staff member at the New Castle Farmers Market in New Castle, DE, when she reluctantly retired after 70 years.
She was a charter member of Ridgeview Mennonite Church in Gordonville, PA, until the time of her death. At Ridgeview, she was a dedicated member of the team who provided food packs for families in the local school district. Her joy and energy went into her family and friends, and activities with her children, nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many, many friends.
Her four children are Sylvan (Melissa Hill), Madison, WI; Calvin (Janet Lind), Strasburg; Linda Hershey (Nathan), Smoketown; and Julie Yoder (J. Dwight), Manheim.
She was blessed with nine grandchildren: Zander and Niko Esh; Isaac Esh; Mitchell, Juliana (Kling) and Olya Hershey; and Megan (Yoder Furst), Zachary and Katie Yoder. She had six great-grandchildren.
Anna was the last surviving child of her parents, and was predeceased by her siblings David (Naomi), Mary Stoltzfus (Amos), Martha Smucker (David), Sylvan (Priscilla), Isaac (Judy), and Alvin (Rose).
Private interment will be at Ridgeview Mennonite Cemetery. A time of greeting will be held Sunday, July 12, 2:00-3:30pm, and a memorial service will follow at 4pm at Ridgeview Mennonite Church, 3723 Ridge Rd, Gordonville, PA, 17529.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fairmount Homes Sharing Fund, 333 Wheat Ridge Dr, Ephrata, PA 17522, or to PowerPacks Project, https://powerpacksproject.salsalabs.org/hungrykidscantlearn/index.html.
