Anna M. Drumm, age 89, formerly of Lancaster and Nokomis, FL, died Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community where she resided since August 2013. She was the widow of Alfred G. Groff who died in 1967 and Samuel L. Drumm who died in 2003. Anna was born in Strasburg Township a daughter of the late William and Barbara Rankin Strubel.
For many years, Anna sold produce door to door in suburbia Philadelphia. She then worked at the former Mari-Bob Restaurant in Bridgeport for 12 years, and lastly she drove school bus for Octorara School District from which she retired.
She was a member of Bellevue Presbyterian Church, Gap, and the former Paul R. Strubel Post #8710, VFW, Strasburg where she was a 60 year plus member.A real people person, Anna enjoyed life and had many friends. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. She also enjoyed playing basket bingo, dining out, flower gardening and her winters in Florida.
Surviving her are a daughter, Nancy L. married to Robert M. Rice of Lancaster; a son Alfred E. married to Elaine M. Groff of Denver; a son-in-law George Wallace of Leola; three grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; and several step great grandchildren; a brother Ralph married to Audrey Dewald Strubel of Danville; and a sister Mary Waller of Maytown.
Anna was preceded in death by a daughter Betty Jean Wallace; two stepsons, Samuel L. Drumm, Jr., Charles P. Groff; a sister Margaret Kauffman; and two brothers, William Strubel and Paul R. Strubel for which the Strasburg VFW was named.
Funeral services will be held at Bellevue Presbyterian Church, 810 Newport Avenue, Gap, PA on Saturday, May 10, 2014 a 10:00AM with Rev. William S. Davies, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Georgetown United Methodist Cemetery. A viewing will be held at Reynolds Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 6:30-8:30PM and again at the church on Saturday from 9:00AM until the time of service.
