Verdna J. Benedict, 87 of Garden Spot Village, formerly of Gordonville, PA, went home to her Lord on Sunday, December 23, 2018. She was the wife of Clyde E. Benedict, with whom she celebrated 65 years of marriage May of this year. She was born in Paradise, daughter of the late Elmer & Grace Denlinger Hershey. She was a member of Calvary Monument Bible Church of Paradise where she was a faithful supporter of missions including the former Ladies Missionary Fellowship. She worked as a waitress for Plain & Fancy Farm Restaurant for over 40 years. She enjoyed camping, traveling, baking, flowers (especially roses), quartet and southern gospel music, and bingo. Most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren; her face would light up whenever they were around. Surviving alongwith her husband are 4 children: Marlin husband of Nancy Pidgeon Benedict of Lititz, Janice wife of Tom Denlinger of Paradise, Carol Vogel of Texas, Carl husband of DeAnne Waites Benedict of Alabama, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and a brother, C. Nevin husband of Ruth A. Neff Hershey of Paradise. Funeral service will take place at the Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Avenue, New Holland, PA on Thursday, December 27th at 11 a.m. Times to greet the family are from 9:30 a.m. until time of service and during the reception immediately following the service. Interment will be 2 PM at the Paradise Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions will be appreciated by the Calvary Monument Bible Church Missions Fund, 1660 Mine Road, Paradise PA 17562.
