John “Paul” Meshey, age 73, of Ephrata, PA, passed away at the Ephrata Hospital on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. He was the husband of Donna Sheaffer Kauffman Meshey, with whom he celebrated 17 years of marriage on September 15th. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Carl Sr. & Christianne Groff Meshey. He graduated from Pequea Valley High School. He was self employed as a truck driver. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Vietnam War. Paul was an active member of the Welsh Mountaineers, Rock Steady Boxing of Lancaster, New Holland American Legion , and was a life member of the Gap VFW and Lancaster AMVETS. Surviving besides his wife are 7 children: Lori wife of John Zimmerman, Kimberly Burger both of Stevens, Michelle wife of Terry Messner of Ephrata, Diane wife of Doug Glick of Bird-In-Hand, Elmer III husband of Wanette Rineer Kauffman of Holtwood, Nadia wife of Brian Krantz of Adamstown, Rhiannon wife of Todd Helm of Lancaster, 17 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 3 siblings: Carl Jr. husband of Donna Shirk Meshey of Lancaster, Christie wife of James St. John of Ronks, David husband of Karen Bookman Meshey of Paradise. He was preceded in death by 3 siblings: Margaret “Sis” Kreider, Gerald “Jake” & James Meshey. A celebration of life service will take place on January 13, 2019 at the New Holland American Legion, 35 S Hoover Ave, New Holland, PA, from 2-5 p.m. Interment will take place at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
