Damien John Smucker, age 15, of Gap, PA, passed away at his home on Friday, May 31, 2019 after courageously fighting brain cancer for five years. He was born in Gap, son of John D. & Suzanne F. Stoltzfus Smucker. He attended the Honey Brook Community Church. He attended Linville Hill Christian School until 4th grade and then Lampeter Strasburg. He enjoyed baseball, hunting, outdoors, siblings and cousins. He took an interest in people. He was his brothers’ biggest fan when playing sports. His favorite bible verse was “The battle belongs to the Lord”. Surviving besides his parents are 5 siblings: Stephen, Adam, Joshua, Bryce and Kailena Smucker all at home. Also surviving are his grandparents: Amos & Rosanna King Smucker of Gap, Gideon & Rose Stoltzfus Stoltzfus of Honey Brook, great grandparents John and Sara Esh King of Gordonville. He was preceded in death 3 infant siblings.
A celebration of life service will take place from the Conestoga Mennonite Church, 2779 Main Street, Morgantown, PA, on Monday, June 3rd at 11:30 a.m. There will be a viewing on Sunday, June 2nd, at Honey Brook Community Church, 3940 Horseshoe Pike, Honey Brook, PA from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Private interment will take place prior to the memorial service in Pine Grove Cemetery.
