Later in life, she got her degree in education as well as her Reading Specialist certification.  While her husband was in the Army, she worked a histopathologist in the biophysics lab at the Army Chemical Center in Maryland. After raising her family, she worked as a Reading Specialist at Solanco Middle School for 17 years.  She was a member of Leacock Presbyterian Church, Paradise, PA, for over 50 years. She was a Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, deacon, and elder. In addition to being in active in the church, she served the community as a member of the Mary Ferree Society, the Paradise Lion’s Club and as Chairman of the Fresh Air Fund. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels.  Her hobbies included playing the cello and piano, gardening, reading, and studying nature, especially bird watching and fossil hunting.

Our Mom was precious. She was an Earth Angel called to help others, to spread kindness, to have compassion and to make a difference here on Earth. When she was 15, God’s light filled her soul with love and the certainty that He is real. She loved deeply and dearly without hesitation or question. She taught life lessons by example and waited patiently for us to learn. She spoke with wisdom and wit and led with love until her last breath.  Surviving members of her family include two daughters: Pamela M. (Kenneth) Rudy and Kimberly M. (Scott) Longenecker, seven grandsons: Nathaniel Rudy (Abby), Benjamin Rudy (Melissa), Alexander Rudy (Nancy), Matthew Scheeren, Daniel Scheeren, Timothy Sanville (Brooke), Jonathan Sanville (Emily), and three great grandchildren, Levi, Jonas, and Lilly. Also surviving are her brother, T. Robert Woodward (Susan), her sister, Doreen Sonchen Conard (Ed), and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband, Bill, and her beloved daughter, Carole.  Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at Country Meadows of Hershey and Grane Hospice. They are incredible people who tenderly and lovingly cared for our Mom.
