George James Miller, Sr., age 81, of Honey Brook, PA, passed away to his heavenly home on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at the Brandywine Hospital. He was born in Glenmoore, PA, son of the late Adam B. & Ella Ortlip Miller. He was the husband of Janet Klink Miller, with whom he would have celebrated 58 years of marriage on August 19th. He was a member of the Downingtown VFW #845. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. In the past he was employed by Bishop Tube for 30 years, Chemlink for 10 years, Kemper for 5 years and the United States Post Office as a relief carrier for 20 years.
Know affectionately as “Kappaw” he enjoyed time with his grandkids, Wednesday night family dinners, bluegrass music, fireworks, Reading Phillies games, working in his garden, and taking care of his many animals over the years. He was a member of Grace & Truth Fellowship of Morgantown. He was once both a deacon and “Candyman” famous for handing out Smarties or Jolly Ranchers. His presence was made know by the clacking of his cowboy boots. George never turned away a stranger and loved people.
Surviving besides his wife are two children: George J. Miller, Jr. and Jody Ann wife of Steven V. Tait, 5 grandchildren: Monica S. wife of Jason Reinhard, Jennie M. Geesey fiancee of Edward S. Bonsall, George J. “Jamie” Miller, III, Jillian and Kim Tait, two great grandsons Ryan & Caleb, and 6 siblings. He was preceded in death by 5 siblings.
He loved Hawaiian shirts. To honor him, his family will celebrate in these shirts at the funeral service at the Grace & Truth Fellowship, 201 Walnut Street, Morgantown, PA on Wednesday, May 22nd at 11 a.m. with a viewing from 10 a.m until time of service. Pastors Alvin Horning, Lance Eisele and Knox Handkins will be officiating. Interment will take place in the Philadelphia Memorial Park, 124 Phoenixville Pike, Frazer, PA at approximately 1 p.m.
