Imogene “Jeannie” P. Lough Burkhart Summers, age 85, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019. Born May 3, 1933 in Honaker, VA, she was the daughter of the late Wade Sr. and Pearl Musick Lough. She was raised in War, WV. In 1955 she met and married Robert Burkhart who died in 1976. June 15, 1979 she married Harry Summers. They would have celebrated their 40th anniversary in June. Surviving are 2 children: Brenda wife of the late Steve Madonna of Lancaster, Michael husband of Jamie Burkhart of Leola, 4 grandchildren: Jarrod Madonna of New Port Richey, FL, Travis Madonna of Largo, FL, Hannah Burkhart of Seattle WA, Rachel Burkhart of Leola, 2 great-granddaughters: Bailey and Jordyn Madonna of New Port Richey, FL, 1 brother Wade Lough, Jr. of Baltimore, MD, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 4 siblings: Robert and Frank Lough, Mary Verbeck and Helen Boothe. Jeannie was employed by Roy Rogers Restaurant for 25 years. She lived in Lancaster for 64 years and never lost her Southern accent. She loved to play cards and Bingo and especially loved going to yard sales. If there was a baby or puppy present, you could hardly drag her away. She loved to watch old Westerns and Judge Judy. Her 1st love was spending time with her family. She prepared the best Southern dinners. Her fried chicken and gravy was exceptional but she rarely failed to burn the biscuits.
Funeral service will be at the Church of the Apostles, 1850 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster on Wednesday, April 24 at 2 p.m. with a viewing from 1 p.m. until time of service. Pastor Daniel Dorsey will be officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.
