Reuben S. Smoker, age 92, formerly of Gordonville, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2019 at Landis Homes, Lititz. He was the husband of Esther Grace Blank Smoker for over 69 years. Born in Leacock Township, he was the son of the late Isaac M. and Fannie E. Kauffman Smoker. He was a member of Ridgeview Mennonite Church. Reuben was a carpenter working for various home builders. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and spending winters in Florida. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 children: Thelma J. wife of Eugene Sensenig of Denver, James E. Smoker, Linda S. wife of Stephen Simmons both of Gordonville, 6 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 6 siblings: Naomi Stoltzfus, Mildred Stoltzfus, David, Elmer, Leroy, and Sylvanus.
Funeral service will take place at Ridgeview Mennonite Church, 3723 Ridge Road, Gordonville on Saturday, March 2, at 11 a.m. with a viewing from 10 a.m. until time of service. Reuben’s nephew, Milt Stoltzfus, will be officiating. There will also be a viewing at the church on Friday, March 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Mennonite Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Reuben’s memory to the Benevolent Fund at Landis Homes, 1001 E. Oregon Road, Lititz, PA 17543.
