Richard D. Gibson, age 82, of Christiana, PA, passed away at the Lancaster General Hospital on Sunday, February 10, 2019. He was the husband of June A. Weigher Gibson, with whom he celebrated 51 years of marriage on February 3rd. He was born in Atglen, son of the late Wilmer J. & Elizabeth E. Irwin Gibson. He was very active with Freedom Life Church, serving as an elder, deacon, usher and sexton. His church was a very big part of his life. Richard worked for Lukens Steel of Coatesville for 42 years. He was a veteran of the Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He loved doing yard work, hunting, fishing and golf. Surviving besides his wife are 3 children: J. Allen husband of Susan Brent Trago of Gap, Laura wife of Todd Sencindiver of Hedgesville, WV, Sharon R. Nields of Camden, TN, 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, brother Truman W. Gibson of Atglen. He was preceded in death by 4 siblings: Wilmer J. Jr., Darrel M. Sr., Louis E. Sr. and Earl “Bus” Gibson. A celebration of life service will take place at the Freedom Life Church, 447 Noble Road, Christiana, PA on Saturday, February 16th at 11 a.m. with a time to greet the family from 10 a.m. until time of service.
