Steve Shivery, a life-long resident of Christiana, began working at the Brown Funeral Homes at the age of 12. Jewell (King) Shivery grew-up on a dairy farm in Cochranville. Steve and Jewell are 1984 Graduates of Octorara Area High School and 1987 Graduates of Northampton County Area Community College. Both Steve and Jewell hold a Funeral Director’s License in Pennsylvania. They have four children and have been married over 32 years. Steve and Jewell are also active members of Calvary Monument Bible Church. They are involved with other area ministries and organizations as well including Christiana Lions Club, Paradise Rotary, Christiana Planning Commission and Steve is the Chairman of the Christiana Borough Authority. Steve enjoys woodworking and landscaping in his free time. Jewell loves scrapbooking, sewing and quilting and helping with the grandchildren. The Shiverys reside at the Christiana funeral home.
In the early 1890’2, William H. Brown & Anson B. Simmons became partners in the Brown & Simmons Undertaker Business. In 1897, the partnership ended and Brown continued the undertaking side of the business. In the early 1920’s, William’s 2 sons, Carl and Ira joined their father. Ira located in Paradise and Carl remained in Christiana. The third generation brought Carl, Jr and Lee Brown into the family business. Steve Shivery worked at both funeral homes for many years, buying the Christiana home in 1994 when Carl Brown retired and purchasing the Paradise location from Lee Brown in 2007 bringing the two locations together again.
Blake, (3rd Shivery child) has been working at the funeral home since he was 12 years old. He and Chelcie have been married 4 years. They met at Northampton Community College and are both licensed funeral directors. Blake and Chelcie are both actively involved with the business. They attend Freedom Life Christian Center and they host a small group. They live in Paradise with their 2 children, Haven and Lincoln and are expecting Baby Shivery #3 in April.
Grace (oldest Shivery child) and Jordan Frey have been married for 6 years. Grace is currently working at Wenger and Company, PC as an accountant. She is also the Reservation Coordinator for Chantry Place. For more information on Chantry Place, She is also actively involved with the Christiana Lions Club serving as treasurer. Jordan is a licensed funeral director. He graduated from Northampton Community College. The Freys live in Christiana and Jordan is on the Borough Council. They attend the Worship Center where they volunteer with childcare. They are blessed to parent 2 little girls, Huxleigh and Maggie and their son, Nash.

Paige (2nd child) and Nate Taylor have been married 4 years. Nate is an auto mechanic at Apple Ford in Red Lion. They have three children - Oliver, Jayde and Oscar. A certified chef, Paige coordinates the funeral luncheons at Chantry Place. For more information on Chantry Place, The Taylors live in Brogue, York County.
Luke Shivery, the youngest in the family, graduated from Kutztown University with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. He is a full-time police officer for Penn State working at the Berks Campus and part-time police officer for Christiana Borough. He and Jaclyn were married in November 2018. They have one daughter, Reagan, and live in Christiana.
